Minimum system requirements
The minimum system requirements for STEPS are:
- Athlon AMD XP 2500+ or higher/Pentium 4 2.5GHz or higher
- 2GB RAM (the larger the model, the greater the RAM
required)
- Windows XP 32bit / 64bit
Improving performance
We also recommend a 3D graphics card that supports OpenGL, though
this is not essential:
- 128MB OpenGL Graphics Card
Increased RAM or a higher CPU speed will improve the run time of a
STEPS model. At present, multiple CPU systems will not improve the
run-time of a model, though we are actively working to develop
parallelisation of STEPS. However, currently multiple CPUs will
allow more systems resources to be provided to the STEPS software
which will improve the run time of a model.
